Making the Frames

Using a pattern bit to cut out the frames.

Now that we have corrected the patterns (see previous post), we’re ready to use them to cut out our frames for the boat.  It’s a straightforward and repetitive process.  

  1.  Trace the pattern outline onto the stock.
  2.  Do a rough cut out on the bandsaw.

  3.  Hot glue the pattern to the rough cut stock.

  4.  Using a pattern bit in the router table, cut an exact duplicate of the pattern shape in the frame stock.

Easy as pie!
