Anchor Locker Update for Swan Point 19

Anchor locker update
Anchor hatch opening installed with anchor bracket inside.

The Swan Point 19 is a great boat, but a small update makes accessing the anchor much easier.  We added a hatch opening to the foredeck and added a mahogany bracket to hold the anchor.

Fiberglass delamination of the foredeck
You can see the de-lamination of the fiberglass from the underlying plywood of the foredeck.

When I cut the opening for the hatch opening, it was obvious the fiberglass had de-laminated from the plywood in the foredeck.  I injected epoxy into the gap and clamped it to repair this.

A mahogany anchor bracket.
I added a long cross piece to the mahogany anchor bracket. This will help support the large span of the foredeck at the hatch opening.

Then I modified the design of the anchor bracket that gets glued to the underside of the foredeck to add a stiffener.  The hatch opening is a pretty big hole.  So the frame of the anchor bracket will add stiffness to the foredeck.

Finally, after the mahogany bracket was coated with 3 layers of epoxy for waterproofing, it was glued in and the hatch opening was sealed in place.  Voila!
